CLEAN 15

A group of researchers, scientists, and policy makers came up with this list

list compiled from U.S.D.A. data on already washed non-organic fruits and veggies thus helping us to determine when to buy organic and when it may not be necessary..It is estimated you can reduce harmful chemicals in the diet by about 80% when following these guidelines. The following foods carry little to no pesticides...

  • Onions

  • Avocados

  • Sweet Corn

  • Pineapple

  • Mango

  • Sweet Peas

  • Asparagus

  • Kiwi

  • Cabbage

  • Eggplant

  • Canteloupe

  • Watermelon

  • Grapefruit

  • Sweet Potatoes

  • Sweet Onions

DIRTY DOZEN

The same group of researchers came up with a list of those food literally full of pesticides. These are the foods to avoid from the typical grocery store and purchase from an organic source. The list is as follows:

  • Celery

  • Peaches

  • Strawberries

  • Apples

  • Domestic Blueberries

  • Nectarines

  • Sweet Bell Peppers

  • Spinach, Kale, Collard Greens

  • Cherries

  • Potatoes

  • Imported grapes

  • Lettuce

There is a huge difference between these two groups...For example 90% of apples, strawberries and blueberries had 40 to 60 DIFFERENT pesticides present....The clean foods had one or less pesticides on about 1% of the clean fifteen....:)
